Kaiser Chiefs in Leeds Millenium Square

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

A nice buzz around this event in Kaisers’ home town of Leeds. Here’s a batch of crowd shots with Civic Hall in the background… more photos of the bands themselves to follow…

Thanks to the band for letting me on stage with them, it looks like The Cockpit never has a photographer’s pit and as you can see it was a bit crowded in the audience!
Great band, lots of energy, all nice lads… lots of heart. There was only one place on the stage where you could get the best photos from, and another photographer nabbed it before the band went onstage. I ended up crouching at her feet and getting prodded about… when she told me afterwards she was there for Kerrang I thought her tenacity in holding on to the best spot was fair enough.

Gary Numan

A rare privilege today, the photographers were allowed to shoot all the way through the entire set and use flash! I couldn’t stay for too long anyway, but it was appreciated. The lighting engineer was fantastic, some really great atmospheric and dramatic use of lighting. The lighting complemented the music well, the guy in charge must have been quite musical. Some great poses from Gary which fitted nicely with the lighting and atmosphere. Shame I couldn’t hang around.

Cover of Jazzwise

Many thanks to my Kate (my wife) for buying me the latest Jazzwise with my photo on the cover. My photos are also used in the article itself. You can see the original photos in my previous blog entry here. I’m finding it hard to look at it without being hyper-critical but it’s still a nice feeling!
