This was a really tough one to shoot… very high stage at Sheffield Stadium and the over-efficient tour manager kept pushing the photographers forwards every time we stepped back despite being nowhere near the security guys in the pit. I saw the Chilis a couple of days later at T In The Park, and I’m afraid to say that the Sheffield audience were ripped off. The band put nowhere near the same amount of effort in to this show.
More experiments with post-processing. I really like the results… let me know what you guys think.
The Answer were absolutely fantastic. It’s rare that I’m in the photo pit and feeling absolutely blown away by the band I’m photographing, but these was one of those times. The singer was a bit too close to Robert Plant in mannerisms for comfort, but wow I was impressed.
I don’t have a lot of time at the moment to work on the photos yet, but here’s a taster of the weekend in Leeds. Not an amazing line up… I should have gone down to the London event. The nicest part of the festival was chatting with the other photographers in the press area.
The stage was unbelievably high… no stepladders allowed. And loads of video cameras in the way. I missed Townsend’s Windmill because of the cameras and monitors in the way of the high stage. I’ll have a few more chances to catch it though this summer.
