I particularly love the atmosphere at Womad, it’s very special. I’ve been coming for around seven years, and even had part of our honeymoon here! I worked particularly hard this weekend… working for an agency means that I have to spend a fair bit of time in the press area working on photos and uploading them, which takes me away from shooting and isn’t as much fun as shooting the bands and people.

The picture editor of The Independent gave me a call yesterday to let me know one of my photos from Womad last weekend had been used in Monday’s paper.
I have to say that I’m a huge fan of The Independent, there’s always loads of global news… it’s much better for the bigger picture than any of the other papers.
I’ll post some updates from Womad when I get a chance.
Festivals coming up include The Big Chill, V Festival and Reading Festival.
Mahmoud Ahmed photos seem popular at the moment, this month’s Songlines magazine has one of my full-page photos and The Independent contacted me today to see if I could supply them with any photos. It looks like they’ll publish one of the photos below in the Friday supplement.
I seem to be doing quite well getting my jazz and world music shots published… shame the rock ones are so much harder to shift.
